Women in Education Network Tackles Work Gender Inequality

Female members of teachers’ organizations in Southern Africa on Tuesday wrapped-up a two-day workshop in Harare that was discussing gender issues and the empowerment of women in education and at their work places, among other issues.

The workshop, organized by the Southern African Women in Education Network, was attended by participants drawn from Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa, Lesotho, Malawi, Ghana, Mozambique, Swaziland, Botswana and Namibia.

Progressive Teachers' Union of Zimbabwe women empowerment officer, Hillary Yuba, said that the meeting was a success considering that this was the network’s maiden workshop.

Yuba said the workshop resolved among other things, to work towards the eradication of discrimination of any kind in the education sector.
